It happened just after midnight, Sunday, on U-S 421 north of Wanatah when Michael Kieszkowski crashed into an oncoming truck. Police say the truck caught fire, but the driver was able to get out, nearly unscathed. Kieszkowski was not as lucky, and died in wreckage. The coroner says his blood alcohol content was .32.

More marijuana and cocaine off the streets of Elkhart as drug unit investigators raid a home in the 300 block of State Street. Inside, they confiscated 80 grams of marijuana and one-and-a-half grams of suspected crack cocaine. 28 year-old Nathasha Turner of Elkhart and 31 year-old Dante Richardson of Hammond face possession and drug dealing charges.

It was a busy Saturday night for South Bend fire crews battling a blaze at the Beacon Heights apartment complex on Ardmore Trail west of Bendix Drive. One apartment was destroyed and several others suffered water damage. No word on the cause. No injuries reported.

Elkhart fire investigators are checking into whether arson was at hand when crews were called to the 16-hundred block of South Main Street, Saturday night, to put out a fire that destroyed at least two cars and damaged a garage. The cars were parked next to each other.

Goshen Police are investigating a report of shots fired at a mobile home park. Officers were called to the Twin Pines Mobile Home Park on April Lane late Friday afternoon and discovered one of the homes was struck by bullets. There were no report of injuries. Police have not release any suspect information.
