Michigan City substitute in trouble for hitting student Created by jzimney on 2/3/2012 6:18:25 AM Pin It A substitute teacher for Michigan City Area Schools has been suspended after being accused of throwing a punch at a student.
The father of a 10-year-old student at Lake Hills Elementary told police his son was punched on the back of the head last week by the sub during a reading class.
The boy says he was hit for no reason.
Police say they need to question his classmates and other potential witnesses before deciding whether to pursue charges.
The boy wasn't hurt - and the name of the teacher involved hasn't been made public.
District leaders say the longtime substitute teacher has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of an investigation.
