LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, whose job includes enforcing Michigan's campaign finance laws, paid $1,325 in fines last year for failing to file her campaign's own information in a timely manner.

The Detroit Free Press reports (http://on.freep.com/zs3DFu) the fines were revealed Tuesday in campaign finance reports filed with her office.

The Republican was 19 days late with a report on contributions that came too late in her 2010 campaign for the job to be reported in the major filing in advance of the election. Four days after getting the notice, she paid the fine.

Johnson's spokeswoman Gisgie Gendreau says matter was an oversight.

State law requires quick reporting ofr late contributions to let voters know who is funding campaigns ahead of an election.
