A domestic dispute and stand-off came to a peaceful conclusion after about 4 hours.

It happened at a home in the 59000 block of Melrose Place in Elkhart. Officers say 36 year-old Richard Doerscher Jr. had battered a woman in front of a two year-old child.

She suffered just minor injuries and was able to get out of the home prior to the standoff with police.

During the SWAT situation, investigators say Doerscher set small fires in the home. They were contained by the Concord Township Fire Department.

Concord Schools, located nearby, went into lockdown mode, as a precautionary measure.

Doerscher was arrested for domestic battery and resisting arrest. He remains in the Elkhart County Jail.
