Art Beat returns on Saturday, August 17, to downtown South Bend from 12:00 - 8:00 p.m. The streets of downtown South Bend will be transformed into a living gallery as artists, dancers, musicians, actors, poets, and culinary specialists display their talents. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
Over 250 artists will take part in Art Beat 2013 making this the largest concentration of artists in downtown since the event’s debut in 2004. Visual artists of every kind will come together showcasing a variety of mediums such as; watercolor, jewelry, print making, drawing, pottery, sculpting, photography and fiber arts. Multiple stages and venues will accommodate performing artists ranging from singers and dancers to fashion shows and poetry readers. Performers will roam the downtown streets and plazas; others will take their talents to one of four main stages located at the corners of Michigan and Washington Streets and at Jefferson and St Joseph Streets, on the Gridiron Plaza, and inside the State Theatre.  New this year, Samaritan Counseling Center presents 10 ‘Living Stones’ which can be found throughout the streets of the event.
Culinary Arts Village returns for a fourth year in a row. Fourteen culinary teams will gather in the lot located at Jefferson and St. Joseph Streets. The tented Village will feature artistic food creations, displays, and demonstrations by area eateries, chefs, and culinary students. Wine and beer selections will also be offered for those over 21 years of age.
There will be free all day parking on downtown streets as well as in the garages at Main/Colfax, Jefferson/Michigan and Wayne/St. Joseph Streets.  Paid parking will be available in the Century Center parking lot. For more information about this event, visit:
